Affiliate Program Basics  Reply with quote

There are lots of different types of affiliate programs out there on the net. You can help people sell e-books, loans, dental plans, hosting, books, posters, business opportunities, etcetera ad nauseum. These types of affiliate programs can be done with or without a website. You can also sell advertising space on your website via established advertising networks, which obviously requires a website. Naturally, you can make money by selling your own products or services, or by selling advertising space independently, but these wouldn't be considered affiliate programs.

Any of these affiliate programs could be very lucrative. Whether or not a particular program will be worth your time depends on several factors. One important factor is do you have the means to get your affiliate links, banners or ads in-front of lots of visitors who would be interested in buying? If you have a lonely little website without much traffic you are not going to be sucessful with any affiliate program. You must consider that it can take dozens or hundreds of visitors before somebody is even interested in checking out an affiliate link, and then only a fraction of those will wind-up paying for something, to earn you your affiliate cut. On the other hand, if you can promote and drive lots of targeted traffic to your affiliate links then you've got a chance at making some decent bucks.

It takes a lot of patience to see what programs will work for you, and usually a lot of work to promote those programs. Remember that there are people out there who are making big bucks with affiliate programs, and even more people who are at least making enough to make it worthwhile.

Affiliate Programs are a way for you to sell another company's products or services and receive a commission (or when you are ready, it is a way for you to get others to sell your products). Selling through another company's affiliate program is a great hands-off way to sell on the Internet. You promote the product or service on your web site (and don't forget your email). The company is responsible for the product or service; they process payments and ships the goods. You get the commission.

The Best Affiliate Programs:
- pay fair commissions
- pay you for returning customers
- provide you with detailed statistics on your sales
- ideally, are two tiered- pay you on the sales of the affiliates that you refer

Check out SiteSell.com. This affiliate program consistently rates high as a first-class affiliate program. They sell a variety of products for selling on the Internet, including ebooks and software. Even if you don't sell any of their products (but you will), join their affiliate program for the extensive training program provided (don't worry, the training is not required - it is available to your when you are ready). The knowledge you will gain is worth it.

Check out http://www.associateprograms.com/ for great resources on other affiliate programs.

Affiliate Program Providers
Here is a short list of companies that run affiliate programs for other companies. When you sign up for a free account with these companies, you have access to the affiliate programs of hundreds of companies.

Commission Junction - sign up as a publisher and get started
ClickBank - sign up under their affiliate program

WAHM Affiliate Programs
Many Work at Home Mom businesses offer affiliate programs. You just have to look for them. I haven't listed any here for fear of leaving out so many. Just search for WAHM businesses - many do have affiliate programs. When you find one, check their links page - you will probably find more.

The Best Way to Sell Affiliate Products & Services
Don't expect to paste up a banner and have the commission start rolling in. Choose products that visitors to your site would purchase and that relate to your web site content. In addition, ensure you include editorial comment about the product on your site. Make people interested in the product before they click on your link. A banner won't necessarily accomplish this. The best way to sell affiliate products is to use them yourself. That way you can promote a product that you believe in and about which you have knowledge. Don't spend all your savings, but do try products when you can.

Above all, before you sign up for any affiliate program, ensure you read the agreement. Make sure you are comfortable with all the terms and that you are receiving a fair commission. Then, enjoy the easy way to sell on the Internet.

Which is why people alway have this Qns in mind.
Do Affiliate Programs really work?

I would say to some extend.
After all, i think is how many traffic you have and how you market it.

quote:
Pay per click - You earn money each time when a visitor clicks on the advertisement to the merchant's website. In order for you to make serious money, you need high traffic to maintain high click through rate in your website.

Pay per lead - You earn money when you refer people to sign up at the merchant's site. These programs pay from $1 to $40. It may look more profitable than pay per click programs but again, the sign up will normally be lower than the click through rate. You need high traffic in your website in order to make serious money.

Pay per sale - You earn a commission when you refer people to buy something. There are quite a lot of merchants paying as high as 50% commissions on products or services. This will be the best if you know the correct ways of promoting the products or services.

Pay Per Impression - You earn money each time when a visitor views the merchant's advertisement. The earnings are normally the lowest. But if you have super high traffic you can easily make money out of it.

If you intend to start a site and earn through these programs, PLS understand and plan how you could earn from it. I recommend you to start with pay per click (PPC) program, you may not earn BIG $$ from it but at least maintain your cost 1st.

You need to know the right ways of making it work.
